The First Presbyterian Church of Orlando is breaking away from the national denomination (PCUSA) after PCUSA voted last year to allow the ordination of LGBT ministers, deacons and elders.
The new denomination is called Fellowship of Presbyterians and is made up of five conservative congregations.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, other central Florida churches may also be planning to join the new denomination. Trinity Presbyterian in Satellite Beach told reporters it intends to join and College Park Presbyterian is said to be considering the change.
First Presbyterian of Orlando has 4,900 members and is the fourth largest church in the United States.
