Former Pride director changing plea to “guilty”

Mike Cruz, the former director of Pride South Florida will change his plea Friday to guilty, according to his lawyer Daniel Young. Judge Andrew Siegel will sentence him.

Cruz was arrested last year for second-degree grand theft, accused of stealing more than $40,000 from the organization.

Young made no other comments regarding the case at this time.

“We've been working hard to get past the blemish that Michael Cruz put on this organization,” said current Vice President of Pride South Florida, Marc Hansen. “We're working to return it to the respectable place it used to be. This is a speed bump we'd like to get past and start celebrating our 35th anniversary next year.”
