An Orlando man will get a televised shot at interior design this month. John McClain is appearing as the amateur designer on HGTV’s new series, First Time Design. McClain will get some help from HGTV designer Vern Yip as he addresses client demands, budget restrictions and time limits, but he’ll be responsible for the final result of his design. McClain’s episode is currently scheduled to air at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 16, and he redid a master bedroom for a husband and wife living in Los Angeles. He and his partner, Peter Courtney, live in Orlando.
