The chefs behind Funky Monkey Wine Company are the winners of 2011 Cook Orlando, a food competition event that raised money for the Human Rights Campaign. Two restaurants also received People's Choice awards: Pom Pom's Teahouse for top food and Shari Sushi for top beverage.
Event co-chair Thearon Scurlock said the March 26-27 event attracted about 180 for Saturday's VIP dinner at The Mezz, plus 300 for the tasting and competition Sunday on S. Eola Dr. Cook Orlando's other co-chairs were Sharlie Reynolds and Jason Lambert.
“We're definitely going to continue it next year,” Scurlock said.
The HRC does not disclose total funds raised from its fundraising events.
