Slaymaker wins community award
Orlando Youth Alliance Board president Michael Slaymaker is the 2010 recipient of the Debbie Simmons Community Service Award. The Metropolitan Business Association Board of Directors each year presents the honor to an individual or organization in the LGBT community “who embodies the spirit of giving, dedication, and exemplary community service.” The award is in honor of the MBA’s founding president.
Dyer, Stewart named to Harvey Milk Board
Watermark publisher Tom Dyer and Orange County Commissioner Linda Stewart were appointed to the Harvey B. Milk Foundation advisory board. The board works with governments from around the world to promote equal rights for LGBTs. Milk’s nephew and gay rights activist Stuart Milk founded the board. Along with Dyer and Stewart, Milk’s notable appointments included Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Ambassador Nancy Brinker.
