ABA to focus on HIV

The American Bar Association is taking a closer look at legal issues surrounding HIV patients and their access to treatment. The ABA mid-year meeting in Orlando offers an HIV Law and Practice conference open to HIV attorneys, healthcare providers and social service workers. The goal is to explore how HIV-related law and policy affects healthcare professionals’ work while teaching lawyers about their needs and experiences in working with HIV-positive patients.

Confirmed speakers include Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Christopher Bates, Director of the Office of HIV/AIDS Policy within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Janet Cleveland, Deputy Director for Prevention Programs Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The conference runs Feb. 3-4 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin.
