Falcons fullback Ovie Mughelli says he is not gay. Attorneys for the 29-year-old athlete have sent cease-and-desist letters to several web sites which published allegations of a man claiming to have had a sexual relationship with Mughelli.
One letter sent to MediaOutrage.com says, “Your blog is replete with defamatory statements as it relates to Mr. Mughelli. If you do not cease and desist immediately, we will have no alternative but to seek an immediate permanent injunction and sue you for damages for defamation and false light.”
The allegations first surfaced on the Atlanta-based blog Miss Jia.com on Jan. 5 when it published a detailed account of a reported sexual relationship between an unnamed Falcons player and another man. Three days later the site released Mughelli’s name.
Francois Sloan, a hair stylist from Jersey City, N.J., is reportedly the man making the claims about the relationship, which he says began while the NFL prospect was in school at Wake Forest University.
