Sarasota takes a step toward domestic partner registry

Sarasota is taking a step toward a domestic partner registry.

On July 2, the city commissioners voted unanimously to ask the city attorney to draft the language for a proposed domestic partner registry. Before it’s approved, the public would have an opportunity to comment on the proposal.

“I think this is exactly what the city should be doing. It’s the right thing to do,” said Sarasota mayor Susan Atwell.
