The fifth annual GaYbor Days festival will stretch or five days, this year, beginning on Thursday, May 24 and ending on Monday, May 28. This year GaYbor Days 2012 has moved to Memorial Day Weekend. The GaYbor District Coalition board moved the event from July 4 weekend to Memorial Day weekend to avoid a crossover with events planned for St. Pete Pride. The annual event features live music, food and parties and this year is set to be no different.
Organizers have created special entertainment for every night of the festival, kicking off Thursday at the Ybor City Social Club.
Events continue on Friday when Hamburger Mary's hosts “Stars on 7th,” an all-star celebrity impersonation revue followed by events at Liquid, The Honey Pot, Bradley's on 7th and G.Bar. Sunday marks the official GaYbor Days White Party at The Honey Pot. Tabu will also present a special edition of its “RISE Sundays,” titled “Bounce,” where an actual bounce house will be on the rooftop.
GaYbor Days concludes on Memorial Day”Monday”with the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival screening of Frances: A Mother Divine at Muvico. The docu-dramedy is about Frances Milstead, the mother of late drag queen Divine. Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner and Tampa City Councilman Frank Reddick are expected to speak.
