The concept of taking songs from short-lived Broadway shows and weaving them into a musical storyline of its own is inventive. Show creator and star, Eric Micaud, a self-confessed “flopaholic,” clearly showed his passion for these Broadway blunders by even incorporating fun facts about each into the cabaret-style performance. It is to my dismay, however, that the ensemble, made up of five singers, did not completely deliver. It's unfortunate that even though it was entertaining and creative, when your show centers on five cast members sitting and singing (solo and together), it is distinctly noticeable when one is off key. Noteworthy are Emily Heffelfinger and Piper Rae Patterson. Heffelifinger's vocals are impressive, ranging from that of Idina Menzel to Fiona Apple. Her stage presence, which made for some great laughs, is also a highlight. Patterson, who is making her Fringe debut, did not disappoint. With pipes likes those, she should definitely set her sights on Broadway “¦but hopefully it's not a bomb.
