The Miami-Dade substitute math teacher with a gay porn past is on his way back to the classroom.
Shawn Loftis, 36, was fired last year from his substitute teacher position in the Miami-Dade School District, after administrators found out he used to act in adult film. Then, the state banned him from earning his teaching ceritifcation for five years. Last week, the Florida Education Commission ruled that he can pursue teaching certifcation, but Loftis is on probation for two years and required to get a mental evaluation. Loftis told a reporter that the next step is to petition the school district.
Loftis was fired based on a district rule that states employees must “conduct themselves, both in their employment and in the community, in a manner that will reflect credit upon themselves and the school system.
A district spokesman told reporters that a teaching certification does not guarantee a job.
