Haven of Hope Ministries has been broken into for the fourth time in two months.
On Oct. 9, police found a suspect leaving the AIDS ministry on a bike while carrying stolen property. According to the police report, officers and K-9 chased but were not able to locate the suspect, a black male in his late 30s or early 40s.
Haven of Hope volunteer Lou Manfredo said the suspect took off with frozen and canned food, paper products, and other miscellaneous items but left the organization’s computer behind. Manfredo said the real damage is to the property. The organization increased security measures with metal bars, plexiglass doors and thick glass block windows, but the burglars continue to find ways in by destroying doors and windows.
Manfredo said HoH increased security measures with alarm, videos and sensors after each break-in but so far those improvements have been unsuccessful in preventing break-ins.
