I Know Them!
There amidst the movers and shakers in the Sunday, Sept. 12 New York Times were two of our own! Trevor Price and Bret Azzarelli trumpeted their Sept. 7 wedding in the announcements section of Sunday Styles. In the wonderfully stiff words of the Times: Mr. Price, 49, is an information technology director at Tampa General Hospital. Mr. Azzarelli, also 49, is a founding partner and a vice president of Elements, an architecture and interior design firm in Tampa. The handsome couple was pictured in front of the XV Beacon Hotel in Boston, where they were married by a justice of the peace. Congratulations guys! On the wedding and the fabulous Times announcement.
Attitude on Water Skis
If you happened by the waterfront in Gulfport late last Sunday afternoon, you likely caught a rare spectacle: big hair, big makeup, big attitude—all being pulled behind an Evinrude! Yes folks, it’s come to this—Drag Queen Water Skiing! Spectators on the rooftop at Dive Bar & Grill were treated to free beer and several passes by the shrieking divas, who mostly managed to stay afloat. A couple of them appeared to be enjoying the high-powered enema. Later they joined DJ Greg Anderson, Judy B. Goode and a steel drum band at Dive for a magnificent Gulfport sunset.
Lavendar Retirement
The Villages is a massive retirement community north of Bushnell, and one of the most conservative areas in the state politically. But there’s a thriving LGBT community in the land of Palin and Prilosec. The Rainbow Family of The Villages has meetings, field trips, pot luck dinners, even a PFLAG chapter. The group’s web site boasts 3,000 members in their database. There are even enough members to support Open Circle at The Villages, a group working to establish a new Metropolitan Community Church chapter. Members meet on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Temple Shalom in Oxford. Pastoral services are provided by Rev. Carol Rawlings-Chambers.
