Drunken Pork Chop
While no one will officially go on record to detail the recent “performance” by Victoria “Pork Chop” Parker at Hamburger Mary’s in Tampa, we have plenty of witnesses to the debacle to tell a pretty accurate story. The RuPaul’s Drag Race Season1 alum was set to perform during two shows at the popular dining establishment in Ybor City on Sept. 5 as part of the Labor Day Weekend lineup of events. However, she was unable to make her second appearance since, as our friends at MC Film Festival say, “Goldschlager and Pork Chops just don’t mix.”
Apparently, the heavy-hitting diva was spotted enjoying a few hits of the gold-flaked refreshment and decided to take “a break” between her two sets. Management, however, was unable to revive her for the second appearance, which disappointed her fans. Fortunately, other performers picked up the slack and kept the party going throughout the evening. Rumor has it that the larger-than-life performer enjoyed her holiday celebration so much that she overslept the next morning and missed her flight out of TIA. No word on if she’ll return at a later date.
Eye on the Ball
The Tampa Bay Bears are changing things up a bit in 2010. Traditionally, the social organization has held its annual holiday auction in November to raise money for local charities. This year, however, the newly reorganized group is moving its annual fundraiser to the Westshore Wyndham Hotel and is incorporating a masquerade theme. The First Annual Monkey Suit Masquerade Charity Ball is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 12 and will raise money for three local charities: ASAP, The Center for Autism and Disabilities and the Gay American Heroes Foundation. While the fundraiser is put on by the Tampa Bay Bears, it is not a bear-themed event. The $60 tickets to the semi-formal fundraiser include a cocktail hour, dinner, a masquerade mask contest, a silent auction and a performance by popular comedienne Christine O’leary. The funny girl most recently appeared in Tampa Bay during St. Pete Pride’s Laughter in Paradise. Tickets are available only in advance at MC Film Festival, the Flamingo Resort and online at MonkeySuitBall.com.
