Outside, City of Winter Park workers were hanging Christmas bulbs along the tiny Park Avenue shopping and restaurant district. But inside Circa 1926 on Wednesday, Nov. 18, the lighting was muted and decidedly lavender for Watermark’s annual WAVE Awards party. More than 120 climbed the staircase to Circa’s elegant South Beach-influenced upstairs lounge for the gala event, hosted by Carol Lee and WAVE winner Jeff Jones (Favorite LGBT Comedian). Orlando City Commissioner Linda Stewart (Greatest Straight Ally to the LGBT Community) was thrilled to be recognized while running for County Mayor. Fred Berliner picked up his ninth straight WAVE (Favorite Local Auto Salesperson). Late arrival Michael Wanzie (Favorite Local Spiritual Leader, Favorite LGBT Blog) took pleasure that Circa is located across the street from St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Afterward, many stayed for Circa’s weekly Wednesday gay night hosted by Aysia Black, while others went downstairs for a late dinner.
