A beloved bookstore in the heart of San Francisco’s gay and lesbian community is set to close by the end of the month.
A Different Light bookstore opened in the Castro district in 1985 and soon became a social hub that celebrated gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered writers and readers.
The bookshop often hosted art shows, reading groups and community events, including an appearance by Olympic diver Greg Louganis, who drew a block-long crowd when promoting his autobiography.
