FL: Lesbian judge promoted to 11th Judicial Circuit

Openly gay Judge Victoria Brennan is now the Circuit Court Judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit. Gov. Rick Scott elevated Brennan to the position July 17, according to the Woodhull Freedom Foundation. Brennan's partner, Monica Cepero, and their two children were present for the ceremony.

“We are always looking for moments in the movement when we can see a shift in attitudes toward the LGBT community,” said CJ Ortuno, executive director of SAVE Dade. “When that moment has to do with one of our own we are especially happy to share it.”
Cepero is a SAVE Dade board member.

Judge Brennan was first appointed to the County Court Bench by Governor Jeb Bush.

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, serving Miami-Dade County, is the largest in the state and the fourth largest trial court in the nation.
