Just in time for Pride, The Center has a new executive director

The (LGBT) Center’s interim executive director is now just plain executive director.

RStephens_624340350.jpgRandy Stephens stepped up to the temporary position in May, after previous executive director Micheal Vance resigned from the position. At a meeting on Oct. 5, The Center Board of Directors voted unanimously to name Stephens to the lead position permanently.

“Randy’s integrity and commitment to the fiduciary responsibilities of The Center are greatly appreciated by the board of directors,” said Board president Eric Paci. “We are honored that Randy accepted our offer and look forward to working with him to grow The Center and adding programs that will enhance lives and empower people.”

Stephens said he’s “honored and grateful” for the Board’s confidence.

“I must remind everyone that The Center belongs to the community and I constantly need input and guidance from the community to do this job,” he said.

Stephens added that his goals are all focused on buillding the scope and impact of The Center.

“We need increase in membership, increase in secured funding, increase of services, and most importantly, an increase in relevancy, not just in the GLBT community but in Central Florida itself,” Stephens said.

The Center Board also held a membership election. Jay Lovell was reelected and the following members were newly elected: Scott Benson, Michael Harper, Will Perry, Steve Resatar, Ryan Salver Harold Strait and Erna Sigurdsson. Officers for the 2010 – 2011 year are: Eric Paci, President; Scott Benson, Vice President; Michael Harper, Secretary and Will Perry, Treasurer.
