Nearly 120 players descended upon the courts of the Harbour Island Athletic Club and the Hillsborough Community College Tennis Center for the 2009 Citrus Classic Clay Court Championship. The Thanksgiving weekend tournament has been a staple for LGBT tennis players for nine years.
The annual tournament brings players into Tampa from throughout the state, country and the world. Players this year came from as far way as Germany, according to the Advantage Tampa Bay web site. The organization has hosted the event every year.
The Citrus Classic has several divisions, ranging from open singles and doubles brackets to singles and doubles based on ranking.
