The first trailer to the highly anticipated fourth film in “The Matrix” series was released on social media Sept. 9.
The film, titled reunites original stars, Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Ann Moss as Trinity, with Lana Wachowski, one of the openly trans directors of the first “Matrix” trilogy. Lana Wachowski wrote and directed the first three films with sister Lilly Wachowski, who is not returning for the film series’ fourth installment.
Joining Reeves and Moss in the film are out actors Neil Patrick Harris and Jonathan Groff, both of who make an appearance in the trailer, as well as Jada Pinkett Smith, who appeared in the two “Matrix” sequels, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Jessica Henwick.
“The Matrix Resurrections” hit theaters and HBO Max Dec. 22.
