The horror-themed convention Spooky Empire will be returning to Orlando from June 17 to June 19 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort for another weekend filled with summer scares.
Spooky Empire made its debut in 2003 in Fort Lauderdale and quickly grew into the widely beloved horror convention it is today. After finding its permanent home in Orlando, Spooky Empire has quickly grown into one of the largest horror conventions in the United States. This year’s convention will be featuring hundreds of vendors, plenty of tattooing booths, and dozens of special guests. Among the long list of guests is openly gay actor, Denis O’Hare.
O’Hare is best known for his roles in the critically acclaimed television shows American Horror Story and True Blood. His various roles are a fan-favorite in the American Horror Story community, including the transgender bartender Liz Taylor, who carries the secrets of guests entering the haunted Hotel Cortez. O’Hare will be available for photo opportunities with guests each day of the convention, as well as a panel discussion on Saturday.
This year’s Spooky Empire will be slightly new to every guest, due to its change from a usual spring event to a summer weekend. Spooky Empire is taking its seasonal change into account and bringing the heat into the theming of this year’s convention.
“We changed this year’s spring event to June, and we’re excited to theme it as a sort of Summerween, Camp Spooky type of event,” public relations coordinator Kellie Sahagian said. “We even have a special Jason tiki mug to fit the summery theme this year.”
Other special guests attending this year’s convention include Clint Howard, Dee Wallace, Heather Langenkamp, Roger L. Jackson, Alex Vincent, and dozens more. Attendees will be available to meet each guest of their choice, and attend several panel discussions throughout the weekend.
Tickets for Spooky Empire are available on the convention’s main website, or at the doors of the event.
