Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir married his long time boyfriend in New York City just two days before the New Year. Weir and Victor Voronov tied the knot at the New York City Courthouse on Dec. 30. Both sets of parents were present for the quick ceremony.
“I'm married!” Weir tweeted after the wedding. “No more livin' in sin!”
While Weir will keep his surname professionally, officially he an his new husband have the hyphenated last name Weir-Voronov.
Weir is a two-time Olympic medalist and stars in his own reality show”which representatives at LOGO say will showcase an official wedding in July 2012 involving a large contingent of family and friends.
“Getting married to Johnny has been the greatest experience of my life,” Voronov said in a statement. “He is the most wonderful, caring and nurturing person”and I can be guaranteed of one thing”with Johnny, I will never be bored. The support from my friends and family has been overwhelming and I am looking forward to beginning my life with the most incredible person I have ever known.”
Weir appeared at Pride in Fashion in St. Petersburg last summer as part of the annual St. Pete Pride celebration.
