Feisty at Fifty
Parliament House will play host as fellow legends-in-their-own-minds Jeff Jones, Doug Bowser, Michael Wanzie and Doug White as they lambaste Orlando thespian Janine Klein. Fresh out of The Big House, the sot singer is raring to get roasted. The 50th Birthday Roast of Janine Klein will take place Monday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. A source close to the anile actress asks, “does the 50 pertain to her age or a cover charge for her to feed her insatiable drug habit?” Per Ms. Klein’s request, the proceeds from this event will benefit the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
Tom Dyer Gets Flashed
On Aug. 12, Watermark Publisher Tom Dyer received a visit from Flash Reporters, former Orange County Commissioner Linda Stewart and flash mob enthusiast Randy Ross. The duo pops up around town, donning fedoras to give their take on news and happenings for their YouTube Channel “AFlashReporter.” After discussing the history of Watermark, Dyer was introduced to the internet fad “planking” and was even coaxed into displaying his best version of timber. The Abbey Breaks Through
On Aug. 26 and 27, The Abbey will host its first theatrical show. After a sold out engagement at UCF, the theatrical production Break Through will premiere at The Abbey. Devised by UCF students, the play is composed of true stories, research and interviews from the LGBT community, transformed into a heart-rending piece that exposes the everyday secrets of what it's like to be queer in America in the 21st century. 100% of the proceeds from Break Through will benefit The Zebra Coalition, a non-profit organization that provides services and safe spaces to troubled LGBT youth. The multi-purpose venue opened its doors opened in downtown a few months ago and boasts happy hours, concerts and social events.
