A 21-year-old is accused of killing his neighbor and a mechanic because he thought they made homosexual advances toward him.
Matthew E. Guzman was arrested Jan. 2 on burglary charges and charged a day later with two counts of first-degree murder. He is being held without bail in a Miami-Dade County jail.
Guzman is accused of shooting 46-year-old Paul Barrow in the head Dec. 16 at his auto store. Police say Guzman thought Barrow had looked at him in an “inappropriate manner.”
He is also suspected of killing 64-year-old Harry Ray on Nov. 18. Police say Guzman knocked on Ray’s door, asked to use the bathroom, then shot Ray several times.
Police say Guzman thought Ray had made homosexual advances that left him “no choice but to shoot the victim.”
