“What is not started today is never finished tomorrow.” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
These are exciting times at our house. Not only are we receiving four or five magazine subscriptions that barely get read, we now subscribe to our toothbrushes. Unlike the magazines, the toothbrushes are getting used on a daily basis.
Are you able to keep track of when you need a new toothbrush? I never can. Sometimes I just look at mine and think it’s time for a new one. Sometimes the bristles have to be splayed like the branches of a palm tree before I realize it’s that time. When Mom was alive there was always a toothbrush in my stocking, so I was guaranteed to swap it out at least once a year. Each of these scenarios would have any dentist finger wagging, but those days are behind me because now Preserve will be sending me a new toothbrush every three months.
The subscription aspect alone is enough to make Donnie Osmond orgasm, but it gets better: the products Preserve makes are made from recycled materials. The toothbrush I used this morning used to be yogurt containers – maybe even yours! As we do-gooders know, it is as important to seek out and purchase recycled materials as it is to recycle them in the first place.
But wait, there’s more. When you receive your first toothbrush from Preserve, it will be in a clear reusable case – also made from recycled materials – that is handy for traveling. I keep a spare brush in my messenger bag in the case. When you receive your next toothbrush in three months, it will be in a Mail-Back Pack – you’ll put your old toothbrush in the packet, mail it back to them, and they will recycle it!
I know, I know. Let’s all take a moment to breathe. That is a whole lot of world saving going on.
While you’re signing up for your toothbrush subscription, take some time to explore the Preserve website. They have programs for recycling those pesky #5s that most community recycling programs won’t take and they even recycle Brita filters. You’ll also find other things to buy – other personal care items and things for eating.
