Police searching for ?person of interest? in homicide

A witness called 911 on May 24 to report a man found in his Manitou, Orlando home, not breathing. When police responded, they found 67-year-old Warren Vorhies dead and determined he was the victim of a homicide. Detective Dorothy Rivera says they know how he died but are not releasing those details.

Police say Vorhies was last seen on the evening of May 22 with another white male named “Frank,” driving either a Chrysler Sebring or Concord with a North Carolina license plate. The car was either silver or champagne-colored.

Rivera says both men were known to frequent area gay bars. Composite_658010024.jpg

“We have canvassed all the local area bars and contacted out of state agencies because of the North Carolina tag,” she says.

The men also had a prior relationship.

“According to witnesses, the person of interest was staying with the victim for about two weeks,” Rivera says.

She says “Frank” is quiet and doesn’t call a lot of attention to himself. They’re estimating that he’s in his 40s and he has short brown wavy hair. He’s clean-shaven with a light completion, thin build and may have a tattoo on his left arm of a woman with exposed breasts that says “Nana” or “Nina.”

Anyone who sees or knows him should call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Squad at 407-254-7000 or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.
