Out of the Closet, a thrift store with a twist which benefits the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), opened its newest location in Orlando’s Mills50 District Feb. 27.
Out of the Closet Orlando, located at 1349 North Mills Ave., is unique among thrift stores as 96 cents of every dollar you spend in the store directly funds AHF’s HIV/AIDS programs and services. Out Of The Closet’s Orlando location will offer free Rapid HIV testing and have a pharmacy in house to fill HIV medications.
A small, socially distanced ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Feb. 27 and attended by Russel Walker, AHF’s Southern Bureau Senior Director of Operations; Shaundia White, AHF’s Central Florida Regional Director; Orlando City Commissioner Patty Sheehan and LGBT+ Center Orlando’s Executive Director George Wallace.
Out of the Closet Orlando is opened 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. HIV testing is available Tue.-Sat. For more information, visit OutOfTheCloset.org.
