The Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival is taking the phrase, “You ought to be in pictures” literally this year with its new fundraiser.
To celebrate its 22nd year, TIGLFF has launched a unique fundraising event asking fans to create their own interpretation of favorite movie quotes.
“Almost everyone who loves film has a favorite classic quote from a movie character the love and remember,” said Ken Hodges, TIGLFF president. “The film festival is making it possible for 22 people to fulfill their dream of being filmed delivering their quote on a big screen.”
The lucky 22 will be featured in a short trailer that is shown before each featured film during the 11 day October festival. Participants are chosen through two methods”by biding through an online auction or by getting the most thumbs up on their own YouTube video submission.
“When TIGLFF explained this idea to me I thought it was genius,” said Chris Rish, the project producer and cinematographer. “I can't think of a more interesting way to have fun and fund raise for a great cause at the same time.”
While the 22nd annual TIGLFF is still three months away, time is ticking away quickly on the auction and fundraiser. The deadline is midnight on July 31. For details on the fundraiser or to bid, visit TIGLFF.com/Auction.
The 2011 TIGLFF runs from Oct. 6-16 at the Tampa Theater in downtown Tampa and the Muvico Baywalk theater in St. Petersburg.
