EQFL Gala surpasses $150,000 goal
The Equality Florida 2010 Tampa Gala on May 8 surpassed its initial fundraising goal of $150,000 and raised $153,640 on May 8. The event, held at the Tampa Garden Club, featured speeches from Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, former Congressman Jim Davis and Congresswoman Kathy Castor.

Hackworth on ballot for Pinellas County Commission
Former Dunedin Mayor Bob Hackworth has qualified to run for the Pinellas County Commission on the November ballot. The LGBT advocate collected the required 1,684 signatures needed to qualify for the ballot on April 26. The two-term mayor will challenge 10-year incumbent Susan Latvala for the District 4 seat.
