Muslims cancel soccer match with gay team

A soccer club of Muslim players refused to play a scheduled league game against a gay-oriented team citing religious conflicts. The decision to withdraw from the match against the Paris Foot Gay team the day before the game has earned national press.

“Sorry, but from the name of your team, we can’t play against you,” said Creteil Babel, the captain of the Muslim team. “Our beliefs are far more important than a football match.”

Paris Foot Gay co-founder called the decision of his opponents “unbearable and intolerable.” The local league is considering legal action against the Muslim team but Babel has not backed down.

“I do not subscribe to their ideas,” Babel said. “Now, if there’s anyone who felt offended or hurt, I want to apologize.”
